The story of
Groove Dr B
Groove Dr B is the musical journey of Australian songwriter Bob — an original artist with decades of songwriting, performing and recording behind him.
Born from a deep love of blues, blues-infused soul, southern boogie, roots rock and swamp-inspired country, Groove Dr B writes songs that feel honest, lived-in and unmistakably Australian. The music sits in the space where storytelling meets groove — patient one moment, full-hearted the next.
On stage, Bob moves naturally between intimate solo performances and full-band shows built around the deep grooves of southern boogie and roots rock. Every performance is shaped by the song and a real connection with the room.
Years in the writing, the Groove Dr B catalogue is a long-form conversation about life, place and people — original Australian music made for listeners who want something real.

The man, the dream, the inspiration & success

The Artist
It's not every day that an artist approaches their musical career in reverse, but then again, Groove Doctor Bob isn't your typical musician. A seasoned ophthalmologist by day and a blues powerhouse by night, this dynamic artist is setting the stage for something truly special.
Music has no limitations, and neither does Groove Doctor Bob. Whether performing as a duo or leading a full band, his passion for authentic, groove-driven music leaves audiences wanting more.

His Love of Music
I love that it is something invisible that comes down and picks you up and transports you to a happier place. I love the rhythm, I love the lyrics, I love the harmonies, I love the tune, I love all the ingredients that make up the recipe of music.
I love that it springs out of nothing. I love that it's creative. I love that it doesn't even have to be creative — it can make you feel good with a great simple dirge-like rhythm and some simple lyrics, or it can be as simple or complex as you want.

Inspiration & Influences
I just fell in love with the guitar the first time I saw one when I was 10 years of age. I don't know why, I don't know how, but it was true love. The moment I heard Muddy Waters and Johnny Winter I fell in love with The Blues, and I have never stopped loving it.
As Muddy Waters said, “The Blues had a baby and they named it Rock n Roll” — so it all springs from The Blues. But some of the rock artists I love range from Queen, The Beatles, Janis Joplin and Eagles. And I should mention I come from Redcliffe, where the Bee Gees got their start.
